ASCIOLLA, Anthony R. “Tony”, 77, of Ramblewood Estates, passed away at home on Monday, February 11, 2013. He was the beloved husband of 19 years to Rejeanne “Reggie” (Berthelette) Viens-Asciolla.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Mary (Lapolla) Asciolla.

Tony was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the U.S.S. Cushing. He later worked at the Providence Journal for 32 years before retiring as one of their Executive Drivers in 1995. He was a former Call Captain for the North Providence Fire Department, a life member of the Marieville Volunteer Fire Department and the Blackstone Valley Firemans League and a member of The Cushing Association, Tin Can Sailors, American Legion, AMVETS and the VFW. He also enjoyed barbering.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Lt. Robert A. Asciolla (NPFD) and his wife Peggy of North Providence, Sandra Lawton and her husband Jimmy of West Warwick, Robin Fletcher and her husband Chuck of Hope Valley and Kevin Viens and his wife Diane of West Warwick; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ricky and Lori Viens.

His Funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in SS. John & Paul Church, Coventry. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Monday 4-7 pm.
