STEVEN B. MANCINI - North Providence

STEVEN B. MANCINI, 41, of Monte Carmele Street, a videographer, died yesterday at Miriam Hospital, Providence.

He was the husband of Caroline (Viola) Mancini. Born in Providence, a son of Bernardino "Benny" and Juanita (Protano) Mancini, both of North Providence, he had lived in North Providence most of his life, Mr. Mancini was a news photographer for Channel 12 News for 18 years, and was a volunteer firefighter for the North Providence Fire Department.

He was a graduate of Rhode Island College, Class of 1984.

Besides his wife and parents, he leaves a son, Derek S. Mancini, a daughter, Carissa E. Mancini, and two sisters, Linda A. Mancini and Donna M. Mancini, all of North Providence. He was the paternal grandson of the late Armando and Maryianna Mancini, and maternal grandson of the late Alfred and Irene Protano.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Maria Goretti Church, 155 Power Rd., Pawtucket. Burial will follow.

(WEBMASTER'S NOTE:    I met Steve on several occasions, even though he served before I did.  He filmed several major fires and some training footage for the department.  He was a great guy, very enthusiastic, the kind of guy who was liked by everyone who met him.  He will be missed by all.)
